One sunny sunday,
Dad, Mum and I strap our seat belts
And off we were, on a drive.
Spotted a rivulet, picked pebbles, shot pictures
And drove some more.
Part of me wanted to take this little path
And wander away.
But we drove on.
And there she was
This gorgeous gypsy lady of the Halakki Tribes.
Adorned in an attire so elegant,
And jewellery so stunning!
The big silver choker-necklace is her wedding token.
Love the fore arm cuffs and the colourful beads offsetting the reams of black beads.
Very few communities continue to practice an age-old practice.
The Halakki tribe of Honnavar region in coastal Karnataka is one such.
